Opal is the product of seasonal rains that drenched dry ground regions. It is known for its brilliant rainbow flashes, called "play of color", but can also be found in different varieties, including translucent bright orange, known as Mexican fire opal.
Tourmaline has one of the widest color ranges of any gem species and can be found in virtually any shade and hue. Many varieties have earned their own trade names, such as rubellite, indicolite, paraiba (our favorite!) and more.
